Songs for Preschoolers
When it comes to preschool and kindergarten activities, it’s not always easy to add music education to the curriculum. Finding great songs for preschoolers and kindergartners can be challenging at times. As a music therapist for so many years, I can relate. I was always looking for great lesson plans when it came to my music classes. That is why I designed the our new Color Me Mozart Songbook with the most well known and easy to play and sing songs for preschoolers.
I wanted to it to be simple to find great songs that children can both sing and teachers can use to teach them how to play. Each song uses color coded notes that match both the xylophone and piano and keyboard stickers. They also work great with Kaboomers and Music Bells.
Additionally, we chose songs that provided both music and movement for any child in an elementary classroom. Movement is crucial when it comes to learning music. It helps develop rhythm as well as both gross and fine motor skills.
Great Song Selection for Preschoolers
With over 30 songs, we made sure to include everyone’s favorite nursery songs. In particular, many songs involve music and movement such as “This is the Way”, a song that sings about getting dressed and ready for school.

Accompaniment Chord Symbols
For those parents or teachers that already play instrument such as piano and guitar, we have also included chord symbols for accompaniment. This allows you to play along on piano or guitar and provide chords and any rhythm you want to add to any song.
Singing together as a classroom is not only fun, but extremely beneficial for social, emotional and cognitive development. Like any other language, adding the addition of learning how to read, write and play music will provide children with a new avenue of expression. This allows them to communicate in a whole new way.
Music Education Starts at a Young Age
One of the best things we can offer to our students is a solid music education starting at a young age. As with any other language, the earlier we start, the easier it is to absorb and assimilate. The longer we wait to introduce music, the harder it is to become fluent. Think of learning a foreign language as an adult. It is nowhere near as natural as the language we learn speaking growing up.
That is because when we are young, we absorb new knowledge easily. We want every child to have that same experience with music. Becoming fluent in reading, writing and playing music is possible and much simpler than most people think if you start young enough.
